This Striking Head™ soil probe is designed to break through tightly packed or frozen soils. Made in the USA!
Two versions are now available:
Standard Duty: 3/8" Round Rod Shaft and 3/8" Tip
Heavy Duty: 1/2" Round Rod Shaft and 1/2" Tip
Improved 2" wide hex head is integrated with an 11" wide handle. The hex head is designed for striking with a maul. Adding 3 lbs. to the overall probe weight, the hex head has been lengthened and counter bored to ensure durability and longevity, especially between the head and rod transition point.
FEATURES:
The Striking Head™ probe includes all of the same features as the Smart Stick™ plus the following:
- 3 pound hexagonal striking head to allow striking with a maul
- Extra Heavy Duty design for added pounding power
- Special alloy steel heat treated for durability
- Striking head and shaft threaded for secure connection
Two tip styles to choose from - standard or ball nose:
- Standard Tip: Features tapered edges for easier penetration and withdrawal from the ground.
- Ball Nose Tip: Features a rounded nose for delicate probing operations such as fiber optics, gas transmission lines, water lines, and other utilities.
Striking Head Probe™ tips are made of high strength alloy steel. They are heat-treated for added durability. The tip is slightly larger than the shaft to create a clearance hole so the rod will not drag against the ground.
